French secrets & Dreams from afar

The Madrid family’s olfactory workshop, La Closerie des Parfums takes its name from those Parisian gardens where the refinement of the senses meets the play of the imagination. The journey begins in France, yet its horizon remains boundless.

Passionate about fragrance, Valérie Madrid spent her childhood surrounded by bottles and stills. As a young girl in the family atelier, she was already imagining the perfumes she might one day compose. At twenty, she joined Antoine and Hervé — her uncle and father respectively — and trained alongside them, patiently learning the art of perfumery, which she later perfected at the prestigious Cinquième Sens school in Paris. Drawing on this experience, she returned to her childhood dream and began envisioning her own line of fragrances.

For inspiration, she would wander through those Parisian gardens once known as closeries: “They are magical places devoted to artistic expression,” Valérie confides. The choice became clear: her fragrance studio would be called La Closerie des Parfums. The name pays tribute not only to the French art of living, but also to her longing for escape. “I’m originally from Bordeaux, the historic harbour of wines and spices, so I’ve always loved dreaming of far-off horizons. With La Closerie as my playground, I can unite French haute perfumery with my taste for the exotic.”

Raw materials enhanced by spices
from around the world

In keeping with her desire to blend inspirations from here and elsewhere, Valérie Madrid developed a simple creative principle: the encounter between a precious base and spices from around the world.

La Closerie des Parfums places its expertise at the service of a continuous exploration of noble ingredients, elevated by spices. This exceptional formula offers singular interpretations which, combined with each person’s sensitivity, give rise to truly unique fragrances.

It all begins with the choice of a material that will serve as the foundation of each fragrance: rose, oud, patchouli, iris, or cocoa. True canvases, they become the olfactory frameworks upon which the spices will soon find their place.

But these encounters are never left to chance — quite the opposite. One material may be drawn to a berry, another to a bark. One spice might reveal the strength of a base, while another unveils a more delicate facet.

A fragrance comes to life only once it reaches that subtle point of balance where each ingredient enhances the other. The ultimate aim: to make every bottle an invitation to a unique exploration.

“The very essence of our perfumes intrigues and sparks curiosity. Our singularity lies in this creative principle: a precious base elevated by spices from around the world. It is the promise of an olfactory escape with a unique trail.”
